Northern Light Aviation is a CAA-approved flying school based at City of Derry Airport in Eglinton, Northern Ireland, operating from the Western GA Apron with full use of the airport facilities and under local air traffic control. Training is flown in the Comco Ikarus C42, which the school describes as handling like a conventional aeroplane, with flaps, trim and a heater and a top speed of 135 mph. Students work towards the National Private Pilots Licence, and the school supports the BMAA Wings Scheme. Trial flights around the North Coast of Ireland are also offered, with views towards Donegal, Lough Foyle, the Derry city walls, the Giants Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede.
