Horizon Flight Training flies from Building 406 on the south side of St Athan Airfield, within the St Athan Aerospace Business Park in the Vale of Glamorgan, a short drive from Barry and Cardiff. The school is hangared on a former RAF airfield and also handles prior-permission-required bookings for visiting aircraft during the week. Training centres on the Private Pilot Licence for single-engine piston aeroplanes, taught to the 45-hour syllabus with nine theory exams and the practical radio test sat at the school. The Night Rating is offered either as a standalone course or built into PPL training, and Horizon runs mentoring and currency training for pilots who already hold one. Experience flights are available for anyone wanting to try a lesson without a long-term commitment. Dual instruction is advertised at £230 per hour for PPL training and £240 per hour for night flying.
