    About Sheffield Aero Club

Sheffield Aero Club is the operator of Netherthorpe Airfield (EGNF) at Thorpe Salvin near Worksop, which the club describes as the longest-established flying training school and airfield in South Yorkshire and the holder of the UK's shortest licensed runway. It is the only local club with its own airfield, sitting where Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire meet. The airfield is open Tuesday to Sunday with self-service Avgas 100LL, hangarage and tie-downs, and visiting aircraft and helicopters welcomed by prior permission on 123.280. Flight training at Netherthorpe is delivered through Three Counties Flying School, to which the club's website directs prospective students, offering NPPL and PPL courses and trial lessons in two-seat training aircraft; aircraft maintenance on site is provided by Dukeries Aviation. The clubhouse is home to the Skyways licensed cafe, open to the public Thursday to Sunday, with a beer garden alongside the main runway — a social hub for members, visiting pilots and families as much as a flying club.
