Yorkshire Aero Club is a CAA-approved training organisation based at Sandtoft Airfield on the South Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire border, with a further presence at Doncaster Sheffield Airport. It serves student pilots from across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, and is an approved Ministry of Defence training provider. Training is flown on a fleet of Cessna 150s and Cessna 172 Skyhawks, several of them listed as IR capable. The club teaches the PPL(A) and LAPL(A), along with the radiotelephony licence, night rating, the Basic Instrument Flight Module and the IR(R) (IMC) rating. Instructor courses are offered too, including the Flight Instructor Course, and PPL ground school is delivered one-to-one or in small groups, seven days a week including evenings. Introductory lessons are available in both the Cessna 150 and the Cessna 172 for anyone wanting to try flying before committing to a course.
