Ansett Aviation Italia operates a purpose-built simulator training centre near Terminal 2 at Milan Malpensa Airport, in Somma Lombardo, which opened in December 2017. Training is delivered through an EASA (ENAC) approved ATO, using EASA-certified full flight simulators. The Milan centre houses full flight simulators for the Airbus A320, Boeing 737-800W, AVRO RJ-85/100 and the Viking CL-415. Courses include type ratings and conversion training for the A320, ATR 42/72, AVRO RJ/BAe146 and B737 family, instrument rating proficiency checks, multi-crew cooperation and jet orientation, performance-based navigation, and instructor qualifications such as Synthetic Flight Instructor and Type Rating Instructor. Instructors include former airline captains and military pilots. This is a professional airline-oriented centre rather than an ab initio school, and sits within a wider network of six Ansett training centres.
