IFA International Flight Academy is an EASA approved training organisation whose original base is at Cascais aerodrome in Tires, just outside Lisbon, with further academies at Viseu in the north of Portugal and, more recently, Braga. It has been training pilots and cabin crew for some 28 years. Its pilot courses span the integrated ATPL(A), a 16-month fast-track route, modular ATPL packages and the PPL(A), alongside flight instructor, IRI, UPRT and PBN courses, revalidations and type ratings on types including the Airbus A320, Boeing 737NG and Embraer 190. Training deliberately progresses from analogue instruments to glass cockpits across a fleet of more than 30 aeroplanes — Cessna 152s and 172s, the Liberty XL2, the twin Grumman GA7 and Pipistrel types, IFA being Pipistrel's Portuguese distributor. Simulators include an ALSIM ALX FNPT II, with A320 and Boeing 737 MAX devices at Viseu, and maintenance is kept in house through Part-145 sister company IFA Industries.
