    About SPU Flight Academy

SPU Flight Academy (Svensk Pilotutbildning) is Sweden's longest-running airline pilot school, an EASA Part-FCL ATO in continuous operation since 1989. Its headquarters, simulators and part of the classroom theory are at Säve Airport in Gothenburg, while all flying — including night, instrument and multi-engine phases — takes place at Lidköping/Hovby Airport (ESGL), roughly 130 km away. SPU runs two integrated programmes, both accredited under Sweden's Higher Vocational Education (Yrkeshögskola) system with 14 state-funded places each and an August intake: an Integrated ATPL(A) of 18–24 months and around 200 flight hours leading to an EASA CPL/IR(ME) with frozen ATPL, and an Integrated CPL(H) with ATPL(H) theory. The aeroplane fleet is Diamond DA40 and DA42, with an FNPT II DA42 procedure trainer and an Airbus A320 FNPT II for APS MCC; helicopter training uses Robinson R22 and R44. Entry requires an EASA Class 1 medical and an aero-psychological aptitude assessment, and YH students can apply for CSN study loans. Graduates fly for SAS, Norwegian and Ryanair among others.
